Of sand and sea.
“Go”, it says. “Go back.” But I refuse. I stand on my feet, keep hold of the orange doughnut encircling me and defy the current, wade further into the blue. It pushes harder. I fall. “GO BACK!” But I won’t. I won’t go back. This isn’t where I belong. I push, I resist, I fight. I aim for the horizon, where the sky and the sea merge. But it is too far. And I am tired. And I am weak. And so I relent. The waves carry me, gently and firmly back to the shore, back to where I began. My eyes never leave the horizon. I head back. But I haven’t given up. I’ll keep on trying. And I will get there. Paradise.
